New to lifting or need a refresh?

We run Inductions every other week for clients who are new to heavy lifting or simply fancy a refresh. The Lift Room Inductions take place with Jodie, the Founder + Head of Fitness. These sessions will take you through fundamental movement patterns like a squat, breath and bracing, how to progressively overload and how to individualise your session. We’ll also show you how to adjust the squat rack or benches and optimal ways of handling heavy equipment. If you have any questions Jodie can answer them too.

Inductions cost the same as a standard class (£22), however the cost is deducted from the block or membership you purchase (not including 3 for £30).

What class is appropriate for me?

All classes can be individualised depending on experience because sessions will never be more than 6-8, which means you get proper 1-1 time with your coach.

However we do have some basic advice regarding suitability and class intensity.

+ STRENGTH LAB

Though you have the opportunity to lift heavy in Strength Lab, the small capacity of 6 people max, plus the slower pace means this class is perfect for beginners or those returning back to training. Still, if you have never trained before and fancy a bit of grounding - book onto our Induction first.

++ SIGNATURE

While you won’t lift as heavy in Signature, the dynamic nature of the class means it can feel a little more intense. The pace is also quicker, which means less time to break things down technically. Therefore we suggest you have done some functional training prior to doing this class or at least 4 Strength Labs.

+++STRENGTHCON OR ENGINE

When you move fast you need to move well. StrengthCon and Engine are our cardiovascular or fitness classes. We suggest that you know how to move safely, both using weights and body weight, prior to doing either of these classes. We would you do at least 4-6 weeks of regular strength classes before participating in these - especially if you are a complete beginner, new to training, coming back from injury or have recently had a baby.

How do I know what day to train?

For any strength based class we programme across 12 Week blocks. That means we focus on a specific movement pattern or split on a specific day and then progress that across the 12 Weeks.

THE CLASSES

IS SMALLER REALLY BETTER?

In this case. Yes. More often than not group exercise classes are overcrowded and overpopulated. Your coach doesn’t see you, let alone know your name. You never learn anything, so you chase calories burned instead as a sign that it’s been a good work out. You leave feeling more beaten up than built up.

We refuse to do that. Our priority is you and your experience. We want you to feel like a part of this community, not just another face in the crowd. That’s the real boutique experience.

So yes, in this case: smaller is better. This isn’t quantity over quality fitness. This is putting a real premium on your body, your health and your overall well-being fitness.

The Space

Clean. Minimalist. Ironically Brutalist.

Built Studios is an intimate space, but with everything you could possibly need or dream of. We believe that your fitness environment can be more than just functional. Your space can also feel like somewhere you want to be. Like home. Fitted with the best BlkBox equipment, we provide premium kit, alongside premium coaches. We won’t sell you short on that.

Women Only

Our aim is to create a space where women feel safe, strong and excited to train, yet confident to fail (a lift!). Within these four walls, expect to build not just your body, your confidence or your knowledge - but a sense of camaraderie with other likeminded women.

Where are we?

Built Studios is based at Anerley Works, approximately 5 minutes from Anerley station or a 15 minute walk from the Crystal Palace Triangle. We are the first unit as you enter the carpark, on the corner, with the nice natural light in the late morning.
